Giant Cell Arteritis (GCA) is a disease which causes inflammation of the blood vessels to the eyes and brain. It usually occurs in adults over the age of 50. GCA can affect blood flow to the eye, leading to loss of vision. Symptoms of GCA include headaches, jaw pain, blurred or double vision, and some flu-like symptoms. The more common medication for GCA is the use of steroids such as prednisolone.
